Privacy Policy

Pinch ("Pinch", "we", "us") makes an iPhone cooking-timer app that helps you coordinate cooking. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the app needs to work.

Information we collect

Account information

Pinch requires a free account. When you sign up with email, Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier (user ID) and your email address, and your display name if your sign-in provider shares it. Sign in with Apple may give us a private relay email if you choose to hide your address.

Your cooking content

The food items, meals and cooking history you create are stored on your iPhone. If you subscribe to Pinch Pro, they are also stored in our cloud database, linked to your account, so they sync across your devices. When you upgrade to Pro, the content on your iPhone is copied to your account so nothing is lost.

Usage data

We collect product-analytics events about how the app is used (for example, that a cook was started or a setting was changed) to understand and improve Pinch. These events are linked to your account's user ID. They do not include your email address, and we do not send the names or text you type — only details such as how many items were in a cook.

Diagnostics

If the app crashes, a crash report (device model, iOS version and technical details of the crash) is sent so we can fix the problem. Performance diagnostics may also be collected. This diagnostic data is not linked to your identity.

Purchases

When you buy a subscription, Apple processes the payment. Our subscription provider receives your purchase history and subscription status, linked to your user ID, so we can unlock Pro features across your devices. We never receive your card details.

Alerts and alarms

Cooking alerts (notifications, and on iOS 26 alarms) are scheduled on your iPhone. The timing details of your cooks are not sent to us to do this.

Service providers

We use trusted third parties to operate the app, each acting under their own privacy terms:

Google Firebase — accounts and Google sign-in (Firebase Authentication), cloud database for Pro users (Cloud Firestore), and crash reporting (Crashlytics).
PostHog — product analytics.
RevenueCat — subscription management.
Apple — App Store payments and Sign in with Apple.

How we use your data

To provide the app's features, and to sync your content if you use Pro.
To keep you signed in and secure your account.
To understand how the app is used and improve it.
To diagnose crashes and fix problems.
To manage your subscription.

No tracking. No ads. We do not sell your personal data. Pinch does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not show ads, and does not use your cooking content for advertising.

Our website

pinch.cooking uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, the referring website, and the visitor's country, device type and browser. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not let us identify individual visitors. The "Download on the App Store" links include a campaign label so Apple can tell us, in aggregate, how many downloads came from this website.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete Account: this deletes your account and the content stored with it in our cloud database, and removes Pinch's data from your iPhone. If you can't access the app, email privacy@pinch.cooking from your account's email address and we will delete your account within 30 days. Our service providers may retain limited records (for example, purchase records Apple and our subscription provider must keep) where required by law.

Children

Pinch is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@pinch.cooking.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "last updated" date above.
